The Maple Heights City School Board approved the district’s 2026–27 academic calendar after Superintendent Dela Flora reviewed the final draft.
Under the approved calendar, new-teacher orientation is scheduled for Aug. 6–10, classified and certified staff begin Aug. 11, with professional development days Aug. 12–18. The first day for students in grades 1–12 will be Wednesday, Aug. 19. Preschool and kindergarten will have separate start dates to allow for required testing and family appointments, district staff said.
Dela Flora said the calendar incorporates multiple professional development and records days throughout the year, an Election Day PD on Nov. 3, and the traditional winter break. Spring break falls on the week of March 22 and the district’s last student day is listed as May 21.
Board members raised no substantive objections during the presentation. The board moved, seconded and approved the calendar on a roll-call vote; Miss Shepherd, Mister Blackwell, Miss Hunter and Miss Moore each voted yes.
District staff said they will finalize individual workday calendars for different employee classifications after the calendar is posted and will correct formatting issues in the public packet noted by members.
