The McAlester City Council voted to authorize the mayor to execute a resolution approving an interim land deed and a development agreement with American Lion for a project in the Steven Taylor Industrial Park.
Staff told council the agreement outlines commitments from both the city and the company and allows staff to begin next steps, including filing a plat and establishing a permanent entrance. "This agreement allows us to be able to move forward with starting those steps," the presenter said, adding that the property transfer depends on the replat and completion of access work.
Councilors asked when construction would begin; staff said the timeline depends on the final plat and easements and that they expect activity to move next year after filing. The planning-related replat and an earlier separate plat tied to the Amazon sale were cited to show prior and parallel transactions in the industrial park.
Council approved the resolution by motion, enabling staff to proceed with recording and development steps described in the agreement.
