Library staff report LED retrofits, elevator plans and Bruni Plaza security improvements

The staff member said lobby lights have been retrofitted to LEDs in at least one branch and that the library is gradually upgrading fixtures systemwide. "You'll notice the lobby's a little bit brighter. So thankfully, we got some — we're still retrofitting — we're starting to upgrade to LEDs now," the staff member said.
Committee members asked about longer-term projects such as elevator repairs; staff said those larger items are being entered into the capital improvement program and will require bids and additional time. "Some of these, unfortunately, may be on there for a while, like the elevators," the staff member said.
The staff member also reported that the Bruni Plaza branch now has security coverage during operating hours (except for the guard's lunch hour) and that incidents at that branch have declined. Parks staff have assisted with maintenance and cleanup of the plaza.
The update was informational; committee members did not take binding action during the meeting but expressed appreciation for the operational improvements and discussed next steps for capital planning and procurement.
