Town rolls out project tracker and weighs Greenway bridge lighting options

“Anyone can see the status of each project and subscribe to changes,” he said, adding that staff will timestamp notes and commit to routine monthly updates to avoid surprises when projects appear dormant.

Separately the board reviewed three lighting options for the Beth Lothers pedestrian bridge near the new Publix and the Greenway: a county‑tied hardwired 30‑amp connection ($34k–$44k estimated including hookups), a lower‑voltage run tied to nearby service (rough verbal estimate ~ $11k for lighting hardware plus hookup costs), and a solar bollard solution (roughly $8k–$10k) that avoids trenching and meter costs. Commissioners emphasized safety, durability and long‑term maintenance costs when weighing options.

Commissioners asked staff to get updated Middle Tennessee Electric estimates, to ask vendors for warranty and maintenance plans, and to explore potential Friends‑of‑the‑Park funding for decoration or holiday lighting. The board signaled support for a safety‑focused lighting solution and asked staff to return with refined costs and operational considerations ahead of the next budget meeting.

Next steps: staff will pursue refined cost, installation timing (with Metro sewer work in the area), warranty/maintenance options and confirm whether the county will formalize electricity hosting commitments.
