The Town of Nolensville Board of Commissioners unanimously appointed Vice Mayor Jessica Salameda as the planning commission representative to the Historic Zoning Commission and reappointed Josh Hughes as the member representing the architectural community during a special meeting on Jan. 29, 2026.
The appointments were made to restore a quorum on the five-member Historic Zoning Commission after several terms expired and to allow the commission, which was rescheduled from Monday because of a snowstorm, to meet today and consider routine business including certificate-of-appropriateness filings. The mayor said the aim was to avoid delaying a business owner’s application for a certificate of appropriateness.
The mayor moved to appoint Vice Mayor Jessica Salameda as the planning commission (PC) representative; a second was recorded in the meeting minutes though the identifying speaker for the second was not captured in the transcript. The board voted and the motion passed unanimously. The mayor described the appointment as a temporary measure and said the full slate of commissioners should be confirmed at the board’s next regularly scheduled meeting.
Later in the same session, the board moved and voted to reappoint Josh Hughes to the Historic Zoning Commission as the architectural-community representative. That motion also passed unanimously. During the discussion the mayor noted that Robert Haines, Josh Hughes and Terry Adams had expressed a desire to continue serving on the commission, and characterized the actions as a stopgap to ensure the commission could act on its agenda.
The board adjourned following the appointments. The mayor said that at the next regular meeting the board would follow the normal process to ensure the Historic Zoning Commission has the necessary members for ongoing business.
