The Nolensville Board of Commissioners amended and approved Resolution 25-107 on Dec. 4 to authorize the purchase of a new two-stall restroom trailer for the Public Works Department with a not-to-exceed amount of $50,000.
Town Manager Victor briefed the board on alternatives considered: a used trailer (sold "as is" with no warranty), a rental option and purchasing a new LuxLab 12-foot, two-stall private restroom trailer. Victor told commissioners the used unit had multiple shortcomings, including doors that would not lock and a damaged freshwater tank that the seller proposed to remedy with an external tank that would not be heated. "I had more conversation with public works... they were concerned about the door issue because the doors were already beat up and wouldn't stay closed," Victor said. He recommended buying a new trailer and supplementing it with an ADA-accessible portable unit if needed.
Staff presented price and warranty details and recommended setting a not-to-exceed amount to cover purchase, shipping and electrical work. During discussion a commissioner said they had personally inspected the used unit and could not get the door to close. The board moved to amend the authorization to include a not-to-exceed amount of $50,000; the amendment and the amended resolution were approved unanimously. Staff said the purchase will be funded from an existing general-fund allocation previously budgeted for land-search and related expenditures and that an operational budget amendment will be brought later to cover ongoing maintenance and service costs.
The town packet lists the recommended vendor as "LuxLab" (12-foot, two-stall) and staff noted standard component warranties for new units; the transcript contains an unclear printed price in the discussion, so the board relied on the not-to-exceed cap passed at the meeting.
The board voted unanimously to approve the resolution as amended.
