Dade City names ‘‘Spoke Park’’ as Veterans Park; city manager authorized to implement

The city commission voted 5–0 to adopt Resolution 2026‑02 formally naming the public park commonly called Spoke Park as Veterans Park. City staff told the commission the parcels were conveyed to the city in December 2019 and that students participating in a local government civic engagement exercise selected ‘‘Veterans Park’’ to honor service members.
City manager Van Ervin described the park’s existing amenities — an accessible playground and splash pad with picnic tables — and said design and construction are underway for an amphitheater and pavilions connected to the Hardy Trail to improve pedestrian and bicycle access. The resolution authorizes the city manager to take actions necessary to implement the renaming, including installation of signage and recording any costs.
Commissioners moved and seconded the resolution without public comment; the roll call vote carried 5–0. Staff said the renaming aligns with prior public discussion and the city’s goals for community involvement and recognition.
