Committee previews Power BI financial dashboard and hears FY26 financial update

At the January 2026 meeting Miss Holden (finance staff) demonstrated a new Power BI-based financial dashboard designed to present revenue and expenditure reports as interactive charts and filters for greater transparency.

Miss Holden walked the committee through revenue pages, expenditure drill-downs by division (personnel, supplies, contracted services), a new utility-bill collection-rate metric (tracking 30/60/90/120-day past-due amounts) and property-tax collection tracking. "This takes that big revenue report that you get and puts it in graph format that may be a little bit more readable to those that don't read financial information every day," she said.

Committee members asked how to access the dashboard from the Spring Hill website. Staff said the embedded display currently has an overlay issue that prevents proper display on the finance page but that the dashboard link has been posted directly in the meeting agenda while technicians work on the fix.

In the FY26 update Miss Holden presented November financials, saying the general fund should look better as property-tax collections continue (she said 2024 is "almost fully collected" and 2025 is "a little bit over halfway collected"), and that capital projects are active and present some cash-flow timing concerns. She noted the city hired a collection specialist this fiscal year to focus on reducing past-due utility balances.

The dashboard will be updated monthly and staff encouraged committee members to use it to walk residents through the city's financial information. No formal committee action was taken on the dashboard or FY26 update.
