The Trenton City Council opened its March 23 meeting with ceremonial recognitions, swearing in probationary Firefighter Nick Brogan, awarding promotions and administering the oath to a newly hired police officer.
Deputy Chief Martiniak introduced Firefighter Nick Brogan and said Brogan "successfully completed his probationary period at the Trenton Fire Department," calling probation one of the most demanding phases of a firefighter’s career and praising Brogan’s "dedication, integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to serving our community." Brogan’s father pinned his badge, and Brogan repeated the department oath.
The council also recognized several promotions within the fire department: Jeff Cox (promoted to captain; not present), Jeff Glowacki (promoted to lieutenant) and Jacob Robbins (promoted to engineer). Deputy Chief Martiniak said the promotions reflected training, certifications and completion of career benchmarks.
Chief Hawkins introduced new police officer Benjamin Lappfelter, noting he is a Trenton resident and a graduate of Trenton High School. Lappfelter was sworn in and had his badge pinned by his father. During the ceremony, Chief Hawkins said Lappfelter finished near the top of his police academy class.
The council and attendees applauded the new personnel and their families. The recognitions were followed by routine business at the meeting.
