The Dawson County Planning Commission approved a side-setback variance for homeowner William Good on a vote of 3-0.
Good told the commission he and his family have lived on the property since 1989 and described site constraints including buried debris and a collapsed storage building that limit buildable area. "We have been planning for several years actually to add on a garage to our home," Good said, explaining the requested reduction from a required 15-foot side setback to 10 feet.
No members of the public spoke against the request. After brief discussion the commission moved and seconded approval; the Chair announced the motion carried 3-0 and granted the variance.
The applicant was advised to follow any permit and inspection requirements under the Dawson County Land Development Code before beginning construction.
