Officers praised after tollway rescue; Now Arena Hideaway plans soft open and summer lineup

Trustees and staff at Hoffman Estates' March 23 Public Health & Safety and Finance Committee meetings commended police officers for a recent tollway rescue and received updates on the village's event center and departmental reports.
During the Public Health & Safety Committee meeting, the police chief reported officers responded to a tollway accident at Barrington Road and assisted before other units arrived. Trustees asked about the two officers who entered the water during the rescue; the chief confirmed both officers are fine. "They're great," the chief said. Trustees praised the officers for the response.
Health & Human Services and Emergency Management monthly reports were acknowledged and filed, and the fire department report was deferred because of software issues; the chief said a report is likely next month.
On the Finance Committee agenda, a Now Arena representative provided an update on the Hideaway building on Prairiestone Boulevard, saying the exterior work looks complete and the target turnover is May 1, with a soft open planned in mid-May (date to be determined). The representative said the full summer lineup will be announced April 15 and described a typical concert schedule (evening concerts generally start at 8 p.m. and run to 11 p.m.; Sunday performances run in the afternoon). "We're aiming for a May 1 turnover," the representative said. "We'll have a soft open in mid-May and announce the summer lineup April 15."
The committees received routine departmental reports; no substantive policy changes were proposed and all items were concluded by voice votes or received and filed.
