Board members also called up nine schools for reward and Level 5 growth recognition, including Heritage High School, Porter Elementary, Wallen Elementary, Mary Blount Elementary, Rockford Elementary, Townsend Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Friendsville Elementary and Samuel Everett School of Innovation. Student board representatives from Eagleton, Heritage and William Blount gave brief reports on school activities, upcoming events and student achievements, including All‑State music honors, a four‑year Air Force scholarship for a JROTC cadet and CTE showcases.
Board members thanked students, staff and community partners and asked staff to consider broader recognition of non‑athletic student achievements at the May meeting.
The meeting proceeded to the regular business agenda after the recognitions.
