The Pinellas County School Board voted unanimously March 31 to proclaim April 2026 as National School Library Month.
Bronwyn Slack, the district’s coordinator of library media services, told the board the district will expand Camp Read Strong to two summer locations in 2026, continue a multi-year refresh of school TV studios to support digital literacy, and roll out the Library Media Trailblazers professional-learning initiative for library media staff. Slack also noted the Battle of the Books competition on April 30 and the Pinellas County Student Film Festival on May 18.
Board member Mrs. Peters read the proclamation and the board approved it by voice vote, recorded as 6-0. Slack thanked the board and noted that many of the library efforts are supported by the district referendum.
