District reports tentative drivers agreement and Title grant adjustments; food-service renewal planned

Human-resources presenter Shahi told the board the district met with the drivers association, provided a counterproposal that was tentatively agreed to and then ratified in a vote: "We were able to give a counter proposal, that was tentatively agreed upon on that day, was taken to vote today and passed successfully," Shahi said. He said the agreement will be brought to the board for a vote at the April meeting.
Shahi also said the district will post openings for teaching, paraprofessional and at least one administrative position prior to spring break and that principals are finalizing master schedules and staffing for next year.
Budget staff reported the district submitted amended Title allocations for the current year and noted an increase in Title I, Title II and Title III funding while Title IV decreased. The presenter said Title 4 funds instructional-technology coaching and that the district submitted the amendments and is awaiting state (NDE) approval. Staff also said the food-service management contract renewal will be brought to the board next month under the existing contract language; a full competitive procurement is done every five years.
Board members asked clarifying questions and were updated on next steps: the drivers agreement will appear on the April agenda for board action and budget staff will return with details related to Title funding and any recommended budget adjustments.
