County Counselor Wade Buie II explained that statutory notice is required to adjoining landowners and potentially the city of Neuston if the property falls within extraterritorial jurisdiction. Staff recommended two publications to the local paper and suggested publication dates of March 26, 2026 and April 16, 2026, and a hearing date of April 27, 2026. Buie also noted a needed spelling correction to the mayors last name in the draft notice.
Commissioners approved the notice and publication schedule by a 4–0 vote. The notice will be revised to correct the mayors name and staff will proceed with the publication schedule and deliver the required mailed notices to adjoining owners and the city as required by statute.
Next steps: staff to file the corrected notice, arrange publication on the approved dates and prepare the record for the April 27 hearing.
