Chesapeake Thrive lists child-care resources and describes Chesapeake Rise partnership

Shaughnessy Butler, coordinator for the Chesapeake Thrive program, reviewed local and state resources for families seeking child care and other supports.
"One resource you can use for child care support is Child Care VA," Butler said, pointing viewers to state licensing and provider search tools. Butler also recommended CommonHealth for families who may qualify for subsidies and benefits, and Child Care Aware for provider information and safety guidance. She highlighted the Chesapeake resource guide as a one-stop compilation of local resources across the Hampton Roads area.
Butler described Chesapeake Rise as a public–private partnership that connects residents to services across nine priority areas — including early childhood, behavioral health, housing, poverty and workforce development — and said program staff can help families identify which supports may be appropriate. She referenced a contact phone number displayed on the webinar slides for families who need assistance with referrals and next steps.
The coordinator advised families to use the links and guides shown on the district’s early-learning pages to find providers, apply for subsidies and explore out-of-school childcare options.
