Elbert County praises quick response to Elizabeth water cut; Road & Bridge worker honored for 30 years

Commissioner McDaniel told the board on March 25 that a March 19 incident in the town of Elizabeth — where a contractor's work on fiber lines severed water service — prompted a rapid county and local response. He named Sarah McIntosh (Department of Public Health), Jacob Love (OEM director), Monty Hankins (Road and Bridge director), Wendy Holmes (communications), Kaylee Mandarin (executive assistant) and Elizabeth Fire personnel as key responders and said a Walmart manager (Okamura) donated bottled and gallon water jugs to help affected residents.
"A lot of people in the county came together," Commissioner McDaniel said, and he thanked the named staff and the Walmart manager for quick action.
Separately, Monty Hankins recognized Cliff McKnight for 30 years of service with Elbert County Road & Bridge; Hankins noted long tenure across the department, including several employees with more than a decade of service.
Macy Crespin, executive administrative assistant, announced two upcoming special meetings: an April 1 legislative briefing at 10 a.m. with Tim Coleman and Steve Balsarovich, and an April 2 public hearing at 2 p.m. for the wildfire resiliency code adoption.
