Council approves annexation of about 41.71 acres, applies neighborhood and industrial-flex zoning

Greenville City Council approved an ordinance to annex roughly 41.71 acres of real property and 6.89 acres of adjacent right-of-way and to apply neighborhood (R‑N‑A) and industrial-flex zoning designations.
Staff told the council the combined acreage is larger than some recent annexations and described opportunities for future development in the area. After brief questions from the mayor pro tem about acreage comparisons, council members moved, seconded and approved the ordinance by roll call.
There was no extended public debate on the item during tonight’s meeting. Council directed staff to continue assessing opportunities in the annexed area as future projects and zoning requests arise.
