Sydney, a parks and recreation staff member, told the commission she led the department's first fully in-house summer activity guide after the outside contractor retired. The staff-designed guide was sent to printers and mailed to Corte Madera and Larkspur households on Feb. 2; registration for programs opened Feb. 17.
"This summer activity guide is our first one, fully created by our team," Sydney said, describing a Canva template and an internal workflow for content collection, editing and design. She credited staff designers (named on the guide) with producing a clear layout and a "summer camps at a glance" page intended to help families register efficiently.
Commissioners praised the change. "You would never know it wasn't done by a professional," Chair Miles said. Staff said the in-house process shortens turnaround for edits, reduces the risk of errors from an external vendor and produces cost savings over repeated cycles.
Sydney said the team is already compiling materials for the fall 2026 guide and expects efficiency to improve with the template. She invited commissioner feedback on layout and distribution plans.
There was no action required; staff will incorporate commission input and continue using the in-house template for future guides.
