City of Troy launches "Zoning with Taylor" podcast to explain planning and development

Taylor Brunner, zoning inspector for the City of Troy, and Lauren Karch, the city’s communications coordinator, launched the first episode of a new 10-part podcast called “Zoning with Taylor.” The hosts said the series is designed to educate residents about planning, zoning and large capital projects affecting the city.
Brunner opened the episode by saying zoning ‘‘was originally created to protect the life safety and welfare of the community’’ and described the show as a place to explain how land-use rules work and why they matter to neighborhoods. Karch told listeners the city will post episodes on Facebook and YouTube and encouraged questions and topic suggestions via the city website and direct messages.
The hosts thanked Troy High School and a staff member named Owen for production assistance. They said the first season is currently planned as 10 episodes and that future topics may include permitting, capital projects such as dam removal and streetscape work, and how zoning affects things like roundabouts.
Karch directed listeners to the city’s online contacts for feedback and logistics; the hosts said more detailed permitting information will be covered in later episodes.
The episode closed with a request for community input and a reminder that the planning office can be contacted by phone or email for property‑specific questions.
