He said the county put a 'not to exceed' amount in place so the chairman could sign the change order when the final quote arrives.
Grant said the original allowance before value engineering was $22,007.40 and the project team expects the final price to be well below $80,000, though he could not give a definitive number at the meeting. The work includes concrete cutting and re‑finishing and extended general-contractor time on site; the total schedule for sleeving and system installation is roughly four weeks according to the contractor estimate.
Commissioners expressed a desire to see the estimate come down toward the earlier allowance but supported moving forward so the schedule for laying sod and opening the grounds is not delayed. The board approved the motion to allow the change order to proceed on the stated 'not to exceed' basis and asked staff to keep the cost under $80,000 and return with final documentation as needed.
