Staff described the first license application as coming from the Boulder City Rotary Club, a public-benefit nonprofit organizing its annual Best Barbecue event in May at parks around City Hall. "We received an application from the Boulder City Rotary Club, which is a publicity nonprofit entity, and they're holding their annual best [Barbecue] event," said the Staff member. Staff added the class G license would allow the serving of all liquor types and that the raffle ticket prices would range "from 10 to $100," with funds to be donated to Boulder City organizations.
The board approved the Rotary Club's class G special-event liquor license and a gambling permit for the raffle on a single motion; the vote was recorded as unanimous. The board then considered a similar application from the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce for its annual spring jamboree, which staff said is a family festival with vendors and live entertainment held in Wilbur Square and nearby parks. Staff said proceeds support high school scholarships and other community programs.
Before the Chamber item, the Chair disclosed a relationship with the Chamber: the Chair said he represents the city on the chamber board but indicated that affiliation would not prevent him from voting on the item. Following a staff recommendation that the applicant met the eligibility requirements under Boulder City code, a board member moved to approve the Chamber's class G special-event liquor license; the motion passed unanimously.
All three agenda votes — approval of the March 13, 2025 minutes, the Rotary Club license and raffle permit, and the Chamber license — were recorded as passing without opposition. The board opened initial and final public comment periods, provided a call-in number and a three-minute limit for callers, and closed both periods after receiving no calls. The board moved on to subsequent business after the final comment period.
