Wheeling CCSD 21 highlights choral festival, Those Who Excel honorees and upcoming registration

The superintendent announced district recipients of the Illinois State Board of Education's Those Who Excel Awards and named the honorees and their roles: Gustavo Atempa, Spanish interpreter serving all schools; Michelle Kuta, art teacher at Frost; Allison Parker, eighth-grade language arts teacher at London; Connor Potman, fourth-grade teacher at Frost; Gordana Rink, second-grade bilingual Spanish teacher at Frost; Marcela Rodriguez, bilingual and English-as-a-second-language instructional specialist serving districtwide; Samantha Roth, principal of Whitman; and Jacqueline Sher, language services teacher/facilitator at Holmes.
Connelly said, “Each of these individuals make a meaningful and lasting impact on students and colleagues,” and expressed gratitude for their dedication. No further details about award citations or any follow-up recognition events were provided in the announcement.
Connelly also reminded families that returning-student registration will open next month and advised completing registration early to help the district plan staffing and resources. He said more information will be sent to families in coming weeks.
