Summary
Trustees approved renewal of the student accident insurance with the recommended vendor, accepted a KETS technology grant match, and approved several construction pay applications and March change orders totaling $14,953 for the Alliance project.
The Spencer County School Board approved routine fiscal items Wednesday including a recommended renewal of the district’s student accident insurance policy, several construction pay applications, and an array of change orders for ongoing building projects.
John Roberts of Roberts Insurance told the board the district’s policy covers all students for school-sponsored activities and that the district averages about 15–20 claims per year, most of them nonathletic. Roberts presented three quotes and recommended renewing with the current carrier (Zurich) at $36,473.66; the board moved and approved the recommendation.
The board also accepted a $25,930 offer of assistance from the Kentucky Educational Technology System (KETS) and approved matching local funds as required by the offer, consistent with budget assumptions included in the working budget.
On capital projects, the board approved monthly pay applications including $68,512.38 for the Spencer County bus garage and fuel station, $32,451.45 for board-related work, and $11,995.30 for the elementary Family Empowerment Center. Alliance Corporation’s pay application #7 for the Spencer County Elementary and Middle School project, totaling $1,193,976.91, was presented and approved. The board also approved four March change orders for the Alliance project (COs 9–12) totaling $14,953, described as arising from site conditions.
Routine consent agenda items and a memorandum of understanding to expand student internship opportunities under the TASL grant structure were also approved by the board.
