Staff updated the Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission on Feb. 26 that the office has received four property nominations and five individual nominations for the Commission’s awards and that commissioners will receive nomination details with the next meeting packet.
Nikisha, a staff member, told the Commission: "We have received 4 property nominations altogether and then 5 individual nominations." Commissioners were told they would be able to review nominations before the next meeting and, if desired, visit nominated properties once the packet is out.
On the status of historic-district properties, staff reported that the applicant who had appealed the Commission’s Certificate of Appropriateness decision for 501 Avenue I withdrew the appeal prior to a City Council hearing. The staff member said the applicant "withdrew their appeal" and is no longer moving forward with the proposed block wall; therefore, staff said no building permit related to that wall will be issued.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about next steps for the property owner; staff responded that because the appeal was withdrawn and the owner is not pursuing the wall, no building permit would be issued for that work. The Commission did not take further formal action on the property at this meeting.
