Parks staff told the commission Jan. 27 that Epic Adventures and the city are finalizing a zipline agreement for Bootleg Canyon but that no opening date is available while the contract is completed.
Staff also said the city has added signs at Bootleg Canyon and at entry points to the El Dorado Dry Lake Recreation Area that state park hours and prohibit camping and open fires unless a permit has been issued. The signs also highlight multi‑use trail messaging to warn bicyclists and pedestrians to watch for others where trails overlap.
Commissioners asked whether the signs define a precise boundary for the dry lake bed. Staff said the signs are typically placed at entry points and representative locations but do not draw a detailed boundary map on the landscape; police patrols and a designated police contact help enforce rules in the area. Staff offered to follow up with a map if commissioners want one posted on the city website.
On photography and filming, staff explained that commercial photographers or film shoots must obtain a film permit with insurance and applicable fees, while wedding photography tied to a facility reservation typically requires the facility permit rather than a separate film permit.
Staff said the signage rollout responded to incidents of camping and large unauthorized bonfires and is intended to make rules visible and enforceable.
