Jennifer Cotto Salisbury of the Central Florida Regional Planning Council briefly recapped the draft plan and its guiding principles, noting it was developed through multiple public workshops and includes measurable objectives and implementation tools. The plan seeks to guide budget priorities, capital decisions and coordinated implementation across town departments and community partners.
Council members discussed a single word in the guiding principles — alternatives debated included 'intentional growth', 'smart growth' and 'rational growth'. After a motion to approve the resolution with a substitute word, the council voted to adopt the strategic plan and the associated resolution (2026‑O6). Staff confirmed the final document will be posted on the town website.
What’s next: staff will use the plan to align budget and capital priorities and will bring implementation tools — for example, pursuing a Florida Main Street designation if the council wishes — for future consideration.
