Houston County Commission approves routine bids, budget amendments and infrastructure items

Other approved items included authorization to auction a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss and purchase a 2026 F-250 SuperCrew using EMA funds; awarding the sheriff's department and jail uniform bid to the lowest responsive bidder; soliciting bids for herbicides to the lowest responsive bidder; a budget amendment of $81,829.98 for sanitation truck repairs and rollover funds; a $28,000 budget amendment for residential materials; and equipment purchases from existing funds consisting of a $20,000 item described in the transcript as "a broom," a $41,000 dump truck, two trench rollers at $39,500 each, and a $76,500 saw head.
The commission also approved an interlocal MOU with the City of Oakland tied to the FY 2025 JAG grant award. All items were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote during the meeting.
The commission will proceed with contract and procurement steps as authorized and received staff reports from administrative staff and the county engineer on recent payments to contractors.
