Brown County Commission approves agenda, clears consent calendar and enters executive session on contracts

The Brown County Commission approved its meeting agenda and a series of routine consent items, then voted to enter an executive session to discuss contracts, the chair announced.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by a meeting participant. The Chair then moved quickly through the agenda. For the agenda approval the Chair announced a motion and a second, called for a voice vote and recorded that all present responded “aye,” saying “Motion carried.” The Chair told attendees, “Next item on the agenda is to approve our agenda.”

On the consent calendar the commission approved multiple items by voice vote without recorded debate. The Chair announced motions and seconders as each item was called: the general meeting minutes of March 3 (announced as “Motion by Gage. Second by Weese.”), claims and payroll, the HR report, a lease agreement, a lottery permit for the “4 h leaders association,” a lottery permit listed as for the “Fairphone,” the landfill tonnage report for February, a travel request, and sheriff reports for January and February. For each item the Chair called for the voice vote; “aye” was recorded and the Chair stated the motion carried.

Later in the meeting the Chair said the commission had received a request to go into an executive session “for… contracts.” A motion to enter executive session was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The Chair stated the commission would be in executive session and that there would be no action as a result when they returned to open session.

The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed by voice vote. The transcript records no public speakers during the public comment period and shows no extended discussion or dissent on the items approved.
