She announced the annual Spring Garden Festival will take place April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at Discovery Gardens, with plants and produce for sale and proceeds supporting Extension education programs.
Maddox also described a 4‑H horticulture competition in July in Raleigh for youth ages 8–18 focused on plant identification, and confirmed that the farmers market will open for the season on April 11 and run every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through November. She noted there is ongoing construction near the gardens but said visitors should still enjoy the site.
