On a motion by Mr. Galindo, seconded by Mr. Orfeld, the board approved the consent agenda that included minutes from the Feb. 23 meeting, financial statements and listed purchases and donations. The chair announced the motion carried.
Finance staff requested reallocation of $16,450 remaining in warehouse funds into maintenance; combined with other maintenance funds of roughly $42,000, administrators said the money would be used to purchase a small tractor. Administration recommended and the board approved the modification to the 2025–26 general fund balance commitments.
The board adopted the annual review and resolution for investment policy CDA local and approved an updated broker-dealer list after hearing from staff and the district's investment advisor. Trustees discussed training-provider options for investment officers; administrators confirmed recurring training requirements.
The board tabled item 13C (renewal of the food-service management contract) until the next meeting.
Human Resources presented updates to three job descriptions — principal, assistant principal and bilingual/ESL curriculum coordinator — and recommended approval of updated job descriptions and evaluation forms; trustees voted to approve those updates. Trustees asked for clarification that discipline responsibilities would remain with principals and assistant principals, and administrators confirmed discipline processes would not change.
After an executive session the board returned to open session and approved resignations, retirements, and new hires discussed in closed session. The board approved specific hires including Desiree Jeffries (English teacher, San Felipe Memorial Middle School), Miguel Herrera (special education co-teacher, San Felipe Memorial Middle School), and Fabiola Montoya (speech-language pathology assistant, Irene Cardwell Elementary). Administrator and professional contracts discussed in closed session were also approved.
What happens next: administration will proceed with the purchases and personnel onboarding and will bring the food-service contract renewal back for board consideration at a future meeting.
