Pickleball courts, playground overhaul and trail resurfacing highlighted in Boulder City parks update

Staff briefed the commission on multiple park infrastructure projects: four pickleball courts at Veterans Memorial Park due in July, Del Prado playground demolition and new safety surfacing (3–4 weeks install), River Mountain Loop Trail resurfaced and reopened May 13, and municipal golf irrigation replacement planned for November.
At the May 19 meeting Director Callaway summarized several park infrastructure projects under way or planned. "Our pickleball courts at Veterans Memorial Park are about halfway through construction. They there will be 4 courts... slated to be completed in July," Callaway said.
Callaway described Del Prado Park work as a community-driven replacement: city staff removed most existing equipment and will complete demolition and in-house removal of remaining swings and safety surfacing before installing new playground equipment and a new safety surface; staff estimate installation will take about "3 or 4 weeks" after demolition.
Callaway also reported the city portion of the River Mountain Loop Trail was resurfaced and reopened to the public on May 13. Commissioner Shay praised the work: "the resurfacing on the River Mountain Trail is fantastic," and thanked public works; Callaway said the project was paid in part with Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) funds.
On golf-course infrastructure, Callaway said the municipal course’s irrigation system is aging and a replacement is scheduled to begin in November; staff plan to go out to bid for construction and turf/irrigation work in the coming months.
Bootleg Canyon updates included ongoing contract negotiations with a zipline company (no finalized contract announced) and an upcoming mountain-biking program that will run fall clinics with around 30 riders per day Friday–Sunday as an introductory offering.
No formal votes were taken on these projects at the meeting; staff encouraged residents to use the city website and the capital improvement survey to register project requests.
