Director Callaway told the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Commission on May 19 that the city is negotiating a contract with a Utah design firm and has posted an estimated timeline that targets a new municipal pool for completion in 2028. "We posted information and even a estimated timeline for completion of a new pool in 2028," Callaway said.
Callaway said earlier renderings were conceptual and that a new architecture/design team will combine recommendations from the ad hoc pool committee with staff input to produce construction-ready plans. When asked whether elements of the previous drawings might still be used, Callaway said the prior work was "a conceptual design," adding that "parts of that probably be used" in the new process and that the design team will refine the concept for contractors to build.
Staff emphasized the role of community input in shaping priorities. Callaway said the department uses an online capital improvement survey (239 total responses so far) and other feedback to gauge demand for projects. He reminded commissioners that funding and scheduling constrain which items move forward and encouraged residents to submit requests via the city website.
No procurement milestones or firm selection dates were announced at the meeting; Callaway said more information will be posted to the Boulder City website and social media as it becomes available. Next steps identified at the meeting are completion of negotiations with the design firm and further public updates on the project timeline.
