The State Advisory Council agreed to organize a tabling event at the State Capitol during the week of April 20 to replace the usual legislative breakfast and provide an informal venue to meet legislators and their staff.
The chair (Speaker 1) said the council discussed three candidate dates and would aim for a morning shift when legislators arrive. "We're looking at 10 to 1" the chair said, adding that shorter, hour-long volunteer shifts would let members cover the table without committing a full day.
Staff (Speaker 4) offered to connect the group with Cass at the Capitol to complete any required forms and arrange for an actual table and logistics. Members suggested producing a simple flyer and distributing it to legislators’ mailboxes ahead of the event; Speaker 2 offered to coordinate printing through Cass.
Council members discussed framing the activity as an advocacy day to introduce the council’s work to legislators and committee staff, hand out one-page materials, and invite brief meetings. No formal motion was taken; organizers agreed to run a poll to lock the final date and recruit volunteers by email.
