Board approves multiple appointments, reappointments and a veterans advisory bylaws change

Don Marcus, county clerk (S9), presented multiple appointments and reappointments across county boards and commissions, including the Washington County Public Golf Corporation Board, the Electrical Apparatus and Wiring Board of Examiners and Supervisors, the Plumbing and HVAC board, and other advisory boards. The board approved the nominations and reappointments recorded in the agenda packet by voice vote (recorded as 4-0).
The board also considered an amendment to the Washington County Veterans Advisory Committee bylaws, presented by the county clerk and assistant county attorney Aaron Weiss (S14). The proposed changes would reduce required voting membership from 11 to 7 to make quorum attainment more feasible, require at least four members to have served in the U.S. military, and adjust term staggering to three-year terms. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the bylaw amendment (voice vote, 4-0).
Several commissioners noted difficulty recruiting certified and qualified applicants for technical boards; staff said the waiver of term limits was requested in specific cases because of a scarcity of qualified candidates.
All board appointments and bylaw amendments approved at the meeting were adopted by voice vote as recorded in the transcript.
