Taylor Huseau, a third-grade teacher at Dodgeland School District, said in recorded remarks that her seven years in the district have shown her the value of small class sizes and extracurricular programs for students.
Huseau, who also serves as a middle- and high-school mentor and has coached boys and girls basketball, said she chose to remain in the district after family moves because of the community and the chance to see former students return and serve as role models. "For our kids in our school, I hope that DodgeLink can keep its small class sizes," she said.
She told the meeting record that smaller class sizes make "learning and differentiation so much more attainable" and allow teachers to provide one-on-one instruction that is "significantly more challenging to get" with larger groups. Huseau also said sports and extracurricular activities offer structure that benefits many students and urged those programs be preserved.
Huseau recounted professional and personal ties to the community — noting she has worked in Dodgeland for seven years and that former students visit frequently or return as teacher assistants — and framed those relationships as part of why she remains a teacher in the district. "I stay at Dodgeland for the kids and the families that I have the privilege to work with," she said.
The transcript contains only Huseau’s remarks and does not record any formal action or response related to her comments.
