Museum reports 33,000 visitors and expanding archives in FY2024

John Calvert, chair of the Boulder City Museum & Historical Association, presented the museum’s fiscal-year report for the year ending June 30, 2024. Calvert recounted exhibit redesigns, restoration grants and museum milestones — including the 90th anniversary of the Boulder Dam Hotel, which the museum manages as a major artifact.
Brianna Carpenter, development administrator, reported attendance and program metrics: more than 33,000 visitors, 4,130 self-guided historic tours, almost 300 student visits from Clark County Schools, 850 volunteer hours and nearly 900 new archive items added. Carpenter said the museum’s financial documents (annual report, financial statements, IRS 990, grant applications) had been submitted to the city and were available online for public review.
Council members expressed appreciation and asked how the community could help. Staff and trustees encouraged volunteer engagement, membership ($30/year with benefits) and use of museum archives (open by appointment Monday–Friday). Calvert noted revenue sources include hotel room income and lease revenue from the restaurant tenant, while donations and membership support remain significant.
What happens next: the museum will continue developing educational outreach, expand volunteer recruitment and return with updates on new exhibits and archives work.
