Crest Hill council approves 2026 zoning map resolution and consent items; executive session scheduled

The Crest Hill City Council voted March 16 to adopt the city's official 2026 zoning map, approved routine consent items and authorized an executive session on labor and legal matters.
Community Development Director Dan Ritter presented the annual zoning map update and told the council it reflected six special-use cases and no rezonings. The planning commission had unanimously recommended approval. Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call; the clerk recorded the motion as Resolution 1397.
The council also approved three consent-agenda items by roll call: minutes of the March 9, 2026 work session; regular and overtime payroll of $281,765.28 covering Feb. 23—through—March 8, 2026; and a list of bills issued through March 17, 2026 totaling $951,818.32. A fourth consent item (work-session minutes of March 2, 2026) was pulled for clarification, discussed and then approved separately by roll call.
Near the end of the meeting City Attorney Mike Steff identified two topics for executive session under state law: collective negotiating matters (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2)) and pending or threatened litigation (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11)). The council voted to go into executive session at 7:44 p.m.
No ordinance numbers beyond the resolution citation were introduced during the meeting; the council did not take further votes on zoning or land-use changes at this session.
