The Mount Vernon City Council on March 25 approved a draft annual action plan for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and opened a 30-day public comment period.
Steve Sexton, the city’s development services director, told council the recommendation reflects limited available dollars and a funding approach that would allocate roughly 51% of the amounts requested by service applicants. Sexton said the draft will be published Friday for a 30‑day comment period and that council will return on April 29 to finalize the plan.
Council approved the draft by voice vote after the public‑hearing portion of the agenda opened and closed with no speakers recorded.
The approval at this stage is to publish the draft for comment; Sexton said applicants could still seek other funding sources to cover any shortfalls when the plan is finalized.
