Summary
The Senate Standing Committee on Codes moved a package of bills — including amendments to mental hygiene, penal and civil rights laws — reporting them out or to finance after brief discussion and recorded objections on a handful of items.
The Senate Standing Committee on Codes advanced a series of bills Monday, moving several statutory amendments into committee or reporting them out following brief floor discussion and voice votes. The chair opened the session, enumerated attending senators and called the first group of bills.
Several measures were moved without extended debate, including bills described as amendments to the mental hygiene law, penal law, civil rights law and legal procedure statutes. Committee members used voice votes; where recorded, a small number of senators were noted as voting in the negative or ‘‘without recommendation.’'
Among the items handled were Senate print 1004-a (referred to finance), Senate prints 1055, 1664, 1694-a, 2494, 3519, 4188-b, 4776 and 7236. The chair read motions and the committee adopted them by voice in each case; named negative or noncommittal votes were recorded for individual senators on some items.
The meeting proceeded to more extended sessions on three bills (see separate articles) before the chair closed the committee.
