Orland Park board expands ClearGov tools, approves fiber QA staff and a tree-sapling program; Cello Cafe honored

Orland Park officials approved several administrative and community items during a brief board update, Mayor Jim Dodge said.

The board approved continued use and expanded capabilities of ClearGov, the village's online financial-transparency platform, which the mayor said helps both internal budgeting and gives residents easier access to how tax dollars are used through an online transparency center. "This tool not only supports our internal budgeting process, but also gives you, the residents, an easy way to view and understand how your tax dollars are being used through our online transparency center," Dodge said. The mayor also noted ongoing enhancements to the village website.

To better monitor private fiber-optic installations, the board approved hiring part-time quality assurance personnel who will oversee contractors installing fiber and help supervise future village projects to ensure work is completed safely and communications with residents are effective. The board also approved participation in a "restore the canopy" plant-a-tree program for Arbor Day that will provide free oak saplings to residents at no cost to the village.

Separately, Mayor Dodge recognized Cello Cafe as Orland Park's business of the month for March, praising its crepes, breakfast items and welcoming atmosphere. The briefing did not include details on ClearGov contract terms, the number and pay of the part-time QA staff, or the Arbor Day distribution logistics; the mayor said more details would be provided later.
