The Tipton City Council voted March 23 to adopt Resolution 2026-06, which implements the 2026 fee schedule for the Tipton golf course after brief clarification about a $5 line item.
The presiding official introduced the resolution and said it had been reviewed by the park board. "I do have the golf pro, Michael Boris, here with us if there were any questions," the presiding official said.
A council member asked whether the schedule represented an increase from last year and specifically questioned "Per person, $5 to the golf pro." The presiding official responded that the change did not represent a significant across-the-board increase and explained that the $5 is connected to clubhouse offerings or merchandise: "So you rent the facility, and then there's $5 in inside merchandise that's made available to each player who participates," the presiding official said. Council members discussed flexibility given to the golf pro to set pricing and the perceived value for golfers.
After the exchange the council moved and seconded adoption of Resolution 2026-06. The resolution passed by voice vote; the transcript records council members responding "Aye," and no roll-call tally or nay votes were recorded in the transcript.
Why it matters: the fee schedule affects recreational pricing and park revenues and was advanced after review by the Park Board. Council members described the changes as more offerings rather than notable price hikes.
The council did not amend the resolution at the meeting; staff will implement the updated fees and the golf pro was given latitude to adjust clubhouse pricing per the park-board recommendation.
