Beardstown council meets Sept. 3; minutes, consent agenda and department reports filed

At its Sept. 3 meeting the Beardstown City Council approved minutes and a consent agenda, filed water, police and fire reports, recorded disbursements, announced Nov. 12–18 candidate filing dates and adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
The Beardstown City Council convened Sept. 3 at 6:38 p.m. at Beardstown City Hall and, after roll call and confirmation of a quorum, approved the Aug. 20, 2024 minutes and the Consent Agenda. Motions to approve the minutes and the Consent Agenda were moved and seconded and passed without objection.
Department reports were filed: the Water Superintendent reported 14,729,980 gallons pumped in August and a May 1–April 30 total of 66,447,278 gallons; the Police Chief reported 711 calls answered in August with other year-to-date statistics listed in the report; the Fire Chief’s August entries were marked N/A with a May–April total of 59 incidents. Code enforcement and zoning reports for August were attached to the minutes. Disbursements for the period ending Sept. 3, 2024 were presented and filed.
Mayor Tim Harris announced that petitions are available at City Hall for Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer and alderperson seats; the filing period runs Nov. 12–Nov. 18, 2024. With no further business, Alderperson Mary Davis moved and Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded to adjourn; the meeting ended at 6:55 p.m.
