Beardstown council names temporary chair, adopts ordinance on disposal of city property and OKs City Hall copier lease

The Beardstown City Council convened at 6:07 p.m. March 4 at City Hall and, in the absence of Mayor Tim Harris, named Alderperson Mary Davis temporary chair. Alderperson Chris Baer moved that “Mary Davis be named Chair Temporary Chair in the absence of Mayor Harris,” and Alderperson Keith Schramm seconded; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
The council approved routine minutes and the consent agenda. Alderperson Dawn Seward moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the Feb. 24, 2025 meeting and to approve them “as published”; Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Alderperson Eric Harbin then moved that the consent agenda be approved under the Omnibus Vote Designation; Alderperson Chris Baer seconded and the consent agenda passed by roll call vote.
The council adopted an ordinance authorizing disposal of municipally owned personal property. Alderperson Lisa Buhlig moved that “an Ordinance Authorizing the Disposal of Municipally Owned Personal Property be adopted,” with Alderperson Eric Harbin seconding. The ordinance was adopted by a 7–0 roll call vote; Alderpersons Chris Baer, Lisa Buhlig, Mary Davis, Eric Harbin, Keith Schramm, Dawn Seward and Shawn Taylor voted aye; Ron Culves was absent.
The council also approved a lease and maintenance agreement with CDS Office Technologies for a Konica Minolta Bizhub C301i copier at City Hall. Alderperson Chris Baer moved that the lease agreement be approved; Alderperson Lisa Buhlig seconded. The motion passed by a 7–0 roll call vote.
City staff provided routine departmental reports that were entered into the record and attached to the minutes. The water superintendent reported February pumping of 13,316,239 gallons and a May–April total of 151,996,201 gallons. Police and fire monthly and year-to-date activity totals were announced and recorded for the minutes.
With no public comments and no further business, the council adjourned at 6:11 p.m. on a motion by Alderperson Lisa Buhlig, seconded by Alderperson Dawn Seward.
