Beardstown City Council voted Jan. 7 to approve a final pay estimate of $160,310.20 to Illinois Valley Paving for the Fifteenth Street and Sangamon Street Paving Project. Alderperson Shawn Taylor moved to approve the pay estimate and Alderperson Chris Baer seconded; the motion passed 8–0 by roll call (Baer, Buhlig, Culves, Davis, Harbin, Schramm, Seward and Taylor).
The pay estimate was presented as a disbursement item for the period ending Jan. 7, 2025. The motion’s text in the minutes reads: "That Pay Estimate#1 & Final in the amount of $160,310.20 from Illinois Valley Paving for the Fifteenth Street and Sangamon Street Paving Project be approved." The council recorded the roll call vote and did not register any no votes or abstentions.
Council business that night also included routine departmental reports entered into the record: the Water Superintendent reported December pumping of 13,847,008 gallons (123,303,355 gallons year to date, May 1–April 30); the Police Chief presented December and year-to-date incident and arrest statistics; and the Fire Chief provided monthly and year-to-date call totals. Code Enforcement and Zoning Officer reports for December 2024 were noted as attached to the minutes.
No amendments or follow-up tasks related to the paving payment were recorded in the minutes. With the final pay estimate approved, the contract payment to Illinois Valley Paving is authorized for disbursement pending the usual administrative processing.
