Beardstown City Council adopts 2024–25 appropriations, approves 15th/Sangamon street project

At its July 16 meeting the Beardstown City Council adopted an ordinance setting appropriations for fiscal year 2024–25 and approved a $157,736.59 contract and a $170,000 Motor Fuel Tax resolution to fund the 15th Street/Sangamon Street project; all votes were unanimous (7–0).
The Beardstown City Council on July 16 adopted an ordinance making appropriations for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2024 and ending April 30, 2025 and approved contracts and funding for a street reconstruction project.
Alderperson Ron Culves moved that "an Ordinance Making Appropriations for Corporate Purposes for the Fiscal Year Beginning May 1, 2024 and Ending April 30, 2025 be adopted." Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded the motion, which passed by roll call vote 7–0 (Alderperson Shawn Taylor absent).
Council also approved a bid of $157,736.59 from Illinois Valley Paving, a division of UCM, Inc., for the 15th Street/Sangamon Street project. Alderperson Chris Baer moved the bid award and Alderperson Keith Schramm seconded; the motion passed by roll call vote 7–0.
To fund the street work, Alderperson Dawn Seward moved a resolution under the Highway Code using Motor Fuel Tax funds in the amount of $170,000 for the 15th Street/Sangamon Street project; Alderperson Harbin seconded and the resolution was approved by roll call vote 7–0.
