North Providence students honored for published art; assistant superintendent highlights assessments and registration

The North Providence School Committee on Monday recognized three high school students whose artwork was selected for external exhibitions and publications and invited them and their teacher to receive citations from the school department and the committee.
Superintendent Gojo introduced the students and their teacher, saying the pieces were chosen through a juried call and reflect the district’s emphasis on environmental stewardship and student creativity. The students named by the superintendent were Isabella Zahalath (senior), Riley Sanford (junior) and Ella Nishal (junior). Dr. Pallotta presented citations on behalf of the school department and the committee.
Assistant Superintendent Seitzinger updated the committee on academic and operational items: winter diagnostics (i-Ready and STAR) are complete and data are being used to target interventions; winter learning walks have concluded and debriefs are providing teacher supports; upcoming state assessments and a district health and wellness-curriculum meeting are scheduled; and kindergarten registration is set for March dates at several elementary schools. She said teachers and union representatives collaborated on the district’s distance-learning plan and described it as “an excellent distance learning plan.”
