The Beardstown City Council met March 18, 2025, at Beardstown City Hall and named Ald. Mary Davis temporary chair in Mayor Harris’s absence after a motion by Ald. Ron Culves, seconded by Ald. Chris Baer; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
The council approved the minutes of the March 4, 2025 meeting (motion by Ald. Lisa Buhlig, seconded by Ald. Dawn Seward) and, by omnibus roll-call vote, approved and filed routine reports under the consent agenda on a motion by Ald. Eric Harbin, seconded by Ald. Chris Baer. No public comments were offered during the public-comment period.
City Clerk Brian Ruch presented the February 2025 cash figures: cash receipts of $1,425,278.00 and cash disbursements of $1,741,036.95, with year-to-date summaries for May 1–April totals included in the packet. The City Treasurer reported fund balances for February 2025, including a General Fund balance of $3,127,094.67 and Special Revenue Funds totaling $3,953,054.07; other named funds and balances were also listed in the report.
Payroll-related items included overtime and part-time pay for February 2025: Ambulance $16,392.35; Fire $5,303.40; Police $3,745.05; and Public Works/Cemetery/City Hall $3,483.54. The council received ambulance service reports for Beardstown (88 calls in February; total charges $83,958.00; collections $22,855.72) and for Virginia (29 calls in February; total charges $39,294.00; collections $15,629.95). Year-to-date totals were provided in the reports.
With routine business concluded, the council recorded disbursements for the period ending March 18, 2025, and adjourned at 6:37 p.m. on a motion by Ald. Dawn Seward, seconded by Ald. Lisa Buhlig.
