Arts Alliance thanks Public Works; new local business asks council about TIF

During the public-comment portion of the Village of Forest Park council meeting on July 28, a representative of the Arts Alliance Forest Park publicly thanked Village Public Works for assisting with the installation and securing of bistro tables and chairs for a sit-and-savor public-art installation on Constitution Court. The speaker named Sal Stella, director of public works, as key in determining placement and procuring hardware and thanked Mayor Rory Hoskins, Commissioner Max Hann (as recorded in the comment), and Rachel Entler for participating in the ribbon-cutting and installations.
A second speaker, Karen Coley, identified herself as CEO of SBC Waste Solutions and said her business, which moved into Forest Park last year, is installing a sizable drain tank between Circle Avenue and Hannah. Coley asked whether that location lies inside any TIF district and whether TIF distributions or allocations might be available to help offset the expense of required site work. The clerk noted that public comment is not a forum for council engagement and suggested that Coley discuss the matter with staff after the meeting.
The council did not take immediate action on the TIF question during the meeting; staff follow-up was indicated as the appropriate next step.
