Forest Park council approves bills, zoning map and multiple contracts; total bills $655,850.43

The council also ratified community center trip contracts, approved musical entertainment contracts for Groovin' in the Grove (June 21, July 19 and August 16, 2022), approved two Forest Park Public Library uses of The Grove (June 4 and June 23), approved a block closure request by Betsy Ross School for June 3, approved a raffle license for the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park and approved banner requests from the Historical Society of Forest Park and the Hunger Walkathon West planning team. All motions reported in the meeting were adopted with recorded ayes from the four members present.
Mayor Hoskins reported that several members attended the Illinois Municipal League Lobby Day and said the council advocated for restoration of the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF) and discussed funding for the Harlem and Lake viaduct. Commissioner comments included a reminder about a community cleanup event on April 24 and requests for residents to help reduce litter.
All approvals at the March 28 meeting were procedural in nature and were adopted without extended discussion; items that will require further staff work or intergovernmental coordination (such as the Jackson Boulevard project) carry implementation steps outside the council's vote. The meeting adjourned after the routine business items were completed.
